fresh thought Change is Fundamental

Civilization is possible because cultures have evolved - growing better over time, while adapting to new circumstances. Because of our ability to learn and comprehend, humanity has shaped the world around it in an ongoing attempt to create what it sees as Eden. It is this continual change that drives us on to discover. However, many on the sidelines become over-satisfied with the status-quo, and halt this natural (and beneficial) process.

aging thoughts Mirror, Mirror

Mankind has demonstrated over thousands of years that it can not handle difference. When another culture is encountered that varies from that of the discoverer, it is conquered, cursed, killed. Humanity does not want to discover; does not want to seek out the new. It only wants to find a mirror image. Differentiation is frightening.

What’s Up With God, Anyway?

I while back a wrote a brief essay concerning the soul, and the existence of a God. I have some new thoughts concerning the properties of said God, and why there are limits to God’s power. As per usual, reader beware.

Web Development and Deployment in a Stratified Nation

The Internet continues to expand at an exponential rate, out-stripping many of the protocols originally meant to handle data, and stressing software - not just browsers and clients, but even the operating system - to new levels. In the States, a conglomerate of disparate geo-social and technological levels has forced the development of sites, and also the transmission lines over which they are carried, into interesting circumstances.

personal thoughts Dial M for Money

This evening on my way home after a night out with a friend, a man sought to talk to me. He said he simply wanted to tell me his story. In the end, it came down to the fact that despite his earlier statements about not wanting money, he did in fact want it. Night in the City

It is two and a half weeks till graduation. In a month, this city will be a history note for me. But tonight, it is 60°, the moon is almost full, and driving down the street with my windows down and some good music playing, I can smell the lilacs that are so famous here. It is good to be here, now; and I am going to miss it.

Slice of Life

I apparently just called my friend Jef, and didn’t know it. After a bit of getting ready to run some chores, I stopped at my computer to find an an instant message: a transcribed list of what he heard while I went about, oblivious to his listening.

Awake at Night

I don’t sleep well at night. There have been very few times that I ever have, and no matter how long I sleep, I’m never well rested. But at least of late, I’m up thinking about thinks that are much easier on the mind, as compared to a few years ago.
